Bookings & Cancellations Policy


Funky Flashpacker is a Party Hostel and not a suitable environment for children. We do not accept bookings, nor do we allow children under the age of 18 on our property.

Payment Policy

Guests are required to pay for their booking with cash or credit / debit card at the time of check-in. We accept several different currencies for payment.

Please keep in mind that your card will be charged for the first night of your booking 24 hours prior to arrival. If you are using a prepaid Visa / Mastercard, please ensure there are sufficient funds in the account. If funds are insufficient, or the card is declined when charging the first night, the booking will be cancelled.

All payments made by credit or debit card will have a 3.5% service charge added.

If you arrive and the booking has been cancelled due to the card being declined, we will try to find space in the hostel. If we are fully booked, we try to find space in a partner property; however, we cannot guarantee a room in this instance.

Cancellation Policy

Any deposit paid directly or to any third party partner is non-refundable.

If a booking is cancelled prior to 24 hours in advance, the only fee incurred would be any deposit made, as stated above.

If a booking is cancelled less than 24 hours in advance, the first night of the booking will be charged and will not be refunded. As above, any deposit money paid will not be refunded.

If a guest does not arrive and does not contact Funky Flashpacker by 12pm (noon) on the following day after the booked arrival date, this will be considered a “no-show” and the full amount of the booking will be charged. This amount is non-refundable, including any deposit money paid.

Extensions and Other Booking Information

1. Extensions

Many guests wish to extend their stay at Funky Flashpacker. Any guest wishing to extend should notify reception as soon as possible, as we often fill quickly and it may not be possible. While room and dorm fees sometimes change due to events and seasons, rest assured that if a guest extends, the rate remains the same as the original booking.

2. Check-In and Check-Out

a. Check-in time is 2:00pm. If the room / bed is available earlier, guests will be allowed to check-in early with no additional payment required. Luggage is stored for free in the locked luggage storage area for guests who arrive early.

b. Check-out time is 11:30am. Guests who are late vacating the room will incur a late check-out charge equal to the daily rack rate of the bed / room. This rate may be higher than the rate booked, as the rack rate is without any special prices. Departing guests should ensure they have all personal items with them and remove them from the room so that it may be prepared for the next guest. Luggage is stored for free in the locked luggage storage area for guests who are going on tours or waiting for transport later in the day.

3. Room Allocation

When booking with friends, there is no guarantee we can get all guests in the same room. To ensure you are all in the same room, consider booking a private or quad room.

4. Discretion

All bookings are subject to availability and Funky Flashpacker reserves the right to decline any booking at our discretion.

5. Force Majeure

In the event of Force Majeure (governmental action, fire, flood, insurrection, earthquake, power failure, riot, explosion, embargo, transportation interruption of any kind, terrorist attack, acts of God, etc…) affecting a booking, Funky Flashpacker reserves the right to receive any outstanding payments in connection to a confirmed booking.

6. Additional Guests

Any additional guests not included in the original booking will be charged the current rack rate and placed wherever there is available space. Although we will try to keep the additional person with the original booking guest, there is no guarantee this can be accommodated.

Group Booking of 15 People or More

The policy of no guests or visitors under 18 years old applies to group bookings.

Group bookings can only be made by contacting Funky Flashpacker direct. Group bookings made online are subject to cancellation without prior contact by the group leader.

A minimum of 25% of the full booking value must be made in order to confirm the booking.

We ask that the remaining balance be paid at least one month prior to the group arrival date, but full payment is REQUIRED at least two weeks prior to the group arrival date.

Any changes to the number of arrivals in the group must be confirmed with Funky Flashpacker as soon as possible. If the number of guests increases after the booking is confirmed, we will do our best to keep the group as close together as possible; however, this cannot be guaranteed.

Any additional guests not included in the original booking, or without notification to Funky Flashpacker, will be charged the rack rate and placed wherever there is available space. Although we will try to keep the group together, there is no guarantee this extra guest will be with the group.

The Group Leader, or their designee, will be required to complete a Credit Card Authorization Form upon arrival to cover the Group Deposit. The name on the card should match the name of the person completing the form, unless the card is a company credit card. Ideally in this case, the Group Leader, or designee, would have a signed authorization letter to use the credit card.

No charges will be made to the card unless:

  1. Member(s) of the group cause damage to the property
  2. Member(s) are smoking in a room or dorm
  3. Replacement of lost or damaged key or access card
  4. Other incident resulting in the need to reimburse Funky Flashpacker

A cash deposit for a group booking is not acceptable.
